There is Work to Do” – Kelechi Iheanacho Vows to Bounce Back After Poor Form

By  Milcah   Tanimu

Super Eagles and Sevilla striker, Kelechi Promise Iheanacho, has admitted that he’s not been at his best recently and is determined to turn things around.

The 28-year-old has struggled with goal involvement, failing to score regularly for both Sevilla and the Super Eagles this season. In the past year, Iheanacho has scored only three goals.

He featured in both of Nigeria’s games during the recent international break, but his performances were below expectations, leading to his substitution at halftime in both matches.

In a candid interview, Iheanacho expressed his frustration with his form but is focused on improving. He said, “Football is not easy. It might seem simple, but there’s a lot of hard work behind it, both in training and in matches. When you’re not at your peak, things feel difficult.”

Looking ahead, Iheanacho is optimistic about his future with the Super Eagles, especially with the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He is eager to help Nigeria improve on their second-place finish in Ivory Coast earlier this year, saying, “It’s not easy, but the team has a lot of quality. We have to work hard and focus on reaching the final and winning.”

Iheanacho also shared his excitement for his La Liga debut goal as Sevilla prepares to face Rayo Vallecano at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Sunday.
