Transfer Update: Juventus Near Alberto Costa Deal, Dortmund Target Chelsea’s Veiga

By Abigail Philip David

Juventus are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a transfer for Portuguese right-back Alberto Costa, having submitted an official €15 million bid to Vitória SC, surpassing Sporting CP’s €12 million offer. The Italian club is expected to complete the deal within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on Monday via X, stating that Juventus have also reached an agreement with Costa for a five-year contract. *“Juventus are closing in on the Alberto Costa deal. Official bid sent to Vitória worth €15m, higher than Sporting’s €12m. Agreement in place with the Portuguese RB on a five-year deal. Juve aim to finalize it in 24-48 hours,”* Romano reported.

In other transfer news, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly closing in on Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, with the club preparing to sell the player permanently rather than loan him out.

Veiga, who has expressed a preference for playing as a center-back rather than a left-back, is valued at €30 million. Romano reported that Dortmund has reached an agreement on personal terms and a project with the player, making them the likely destination for his services. *“Renato Veiga is expected to leave Chelsea with a permanent exit rather than a loan. Chelsea seeks €30m for Veiga, accommodating his request to play as a CB. Full agreement with Borussia Dortmund on contract and project,”* Romano stated.

At Southampton, the club is making a final push to secure a contract extension for Kyle Walker-Peters, whose current deal expires in six months. The Saints aim to finalize an agreement before the January window closes, or the defender could leave on a free transfer this summer.

Meanwhile, Swiss forward Noah Okafor is set to join RB Leipzig on a €1 million loan deal, with his salary fully covered. The loan agreement includes a non-mandatory purchase option in the range of €25–28 million. Okafor is expected to arrive in Leipzig today to finalize the move.
