As Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom begin last minute preparation to transit power, a Senior Apostle of the African Church, Rev. Richard Peters has enjoined the people to extol the governor for the indelible milestones recorded through out the eight years of his administration.

Speaking at a press conference in Uyo, on Friday the Cleric who described Gov Emmanuel as a ‘Silent and focused’ achiever said the governor gave governance direction and focus adding that the next administration will not find it difficult to sail through.

Richard who explained that the governor had silenced the naysayers with project construction and commissioning said the last phase of commissioning which the governor has embarked on accross the state was a testament that he was poised to end well.

He however expressed hope that the transition/committee report handed over to the governor last week would ensure a smooth, peaceful and seamless transition as well as giving the incoming administration a clear direction to start from

According to the cleric, “people should encourage the governor, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his indelible milestones which have shut the mouths of the naysayers and opposition in the state. He does not make noise about his achievements but they are boldly written everywhere that even the blind can feel and see them.

“Despite all that he did since the inception of his administration, he is still commissioning projects till last minute as we can see in the commissioning of Ring road 2, the road leading to the leprosy centre and so on, that is to show that the governor will finish strong.

“I can tell you that the governor has defined what leadership entails. For eight years on the saddle, he has given his leadership, focus and has achieved more than expected. He has holistically touched all sectors. The report from the transition committee is based on fact finding and I believe it would help the incoming administration.”

He also lauded the governor for not accepting to vie for a senatorial seat as most outgoing governors were known for as a retirement package.

Richard stated that the governor knowing fully well that zoning on senatorial basis did not favor his zone, (Eket) rather Ikot Abasi senatorial district honorably refused to change the status quo saying that it only takes a man of high sense of morality and selflessness to take such decision.
