U.S. President Donald Trump has joined the global debate over football’s greatest player, naming Brazilian legend Pelé as his all-time favorite.
Trump made the statement on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where he attended the final of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
Chelsea delivered a commanding performance in the match, defeating Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3–0 to lift the trophy, with all goals scored in the first half.
Speaking to DAZN after the game, Trump reminisced about watching Pelé play for the New York Cosmos in the 1970s. He praised the Brazilian icon as a “timeless legend” and “a true inspiration whose legacy transcends generations.”
