Whyte Criticizes Joshua Over Dubois Rematch Decision

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Dillian Whyte has criticized Anthony Joshua for not pursuing an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois after his knockout loss at Wembley last September. Whyte said, “It was a world title fight, a great payday, and the perfect opportunity. He will forever have to suffer the memes of being face-planted at Wembley by Dubois.”

Whyte, who lost to Joshua a decade ago, compared the situation to his own after being defeated by Alexander Povetkin. “I demanded the rematch immediately after losing to Povetkin. It’s a mindset thing,” he added, expressing his desire to face Joshua and Tyson Fury again.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Joshua has several options for his next fight, including a potential rematch with Whyte, which was canceled in 2023 due to a failed drug test. Meanwhile, Daniel Dubois is set to defend his IBF title against Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22, with the winner potentially meeting Joshua in the future.

Joshua’s career trajectory remains uncertain following Tyson Fury’s shock retirement announcement. However, Hearn speculated that Fury’s retirement might be temporary, suggesting it could be a negotiating tactic.

While Joshua has stayed silent about Fury’s retirement, Hearn continues to explore opportunities for the former champion, keeping fans hopeful for an exciting year in boxing.
