In October, the first phase of the wedding between Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Tobi Phillips took place.

Dressed in traditional white attire, the Ooni’s third wife received blessings from her family, even though the Ooni himself was not present. Instead, he sent his guards, chief, and royal staff to represent him.

This wedding occurred nearly four years after it was initially reported that the Ooni would marry Tobi following his divorce from Olori Wuraola Zainab Otiti. Sources close to Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi revealed that he had been in a serious relationship with Tobi Phillips following his separation. However, circumstances prevented their marriage at that time, and he later married Olori Naomi.

Fortunately, Tobi’s fortunes changed, and she was able to wed the love of her life.

In a recent interview with TVC’s ‘Your View’, Olori Tobi Phillips opened up about how she met the Ooni and shared her experience of not being able to marry him due to various interferences.

She explained that a mutual friend had introduced her to the monarch, and they had an instant chemistry. However, circumstances arose that prevented them from getting married at that time, and it was a devastating experience for her.

Olori Tobi Phillips clarified that her decision to marry the Ooni was driven by love, rather than any material motives that some may attribute to her. She emphasized that marrying for love had always been her priority.

She expressed that she recognized certain values in the monarch that aligned with her own ideals for a future husband. It was these qualities that ultimately led her to accept the role as the King’s third wife.
