Patience Ozokwo Kneeling to Greet Patience Jonathan Sparks Debate Online

By Abigail Philip David

Veteran actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, recently shared a video of her meeting with former Nigerian First Lady, Patience Jonathan, which has ignited mixed reactions on social media.

In the video posted on her Instagram page on Sunday, Ozokwo is seen kneeling to greet Jonathan as she approached, before the two embraced warmly. The gesture sparked debate, with some netizens highlighting the age difference between the two women.

One commenter, #isi_lisa, remarked, “But Mama G is much older. Mama G is 66; the former First Lady is 58.”

However, others defended the actress, emphasizing the cultural importance of showing respect. “She is just giving her honour,” #lenycute01 responded, while #gochy_glam added, “She was once a First Lady, isn’t that enough?”

Another user, #lumiwizzo, praised Jonathan’s humility, noting, “What a humble First Lady, she returned the respect by standing to receive you.”

In her caption, Ozokwo expressed her admiration for Jonathan, writing, “Dame Patience Jonathan. You are loved. Thank you.”
