Seven landmark projects, including two housing estates, three schools, and a 1.2 km dual carriageway, have been unveiled by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum. These projects aim to foster urban renewal and economic development in the aftermath of over a decade of insurgency and the 2024 Maiduguri flood disaster.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Nigeria’s World Bank representative, Dr. Ndiame Diop, who commissioned two senior and one junior secondary school. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni also participated in the commissioning, unveiling the two housing estates, a flyover bridge, and the dual carriageway.

The schools commissioned on Tuesday included the 60-classroom Government Day Secondary School in Mairi, the 40-classroom Government Day Secondary School in Gala-Mairi, and the 20-classroom Government Girls Junior Day Secondary School in Molai, all located in the Jere Local Government Area.

Governor Buni also commissioned the Borno Express flyover and the Shehu Garbai Expressway along Lawan Bukar in Maiduguri, enhancing the state’s infrastructure.

Two housing estates were unveiled on Wednesday, one of which is named after Vice President Kashim Shettima. This estate features a two-storey building with 72 three-bedroom flats. The second estate, comprising 500 houses, was named after Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.

These projects are part of efforts to revitalize the region, improve residents’ quality of life, and promote long-term economic growth.
