Bauchi Governor Criticizes Wike as a ‘Transactional Politician’

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of being a “transactional politician” who prioritizes personal ambition over loyalty.

Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, issued a press release on Thursday to address Wike’s criticism of Mohammed’s opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills.

Accusations of Hypocrisy and Opportunism

Gidado called Wike’s comments “baseless” and “hypocritical” and criticized him for inconsistency and political opportunism.

“Wike transformed himself from a self-proclaimed PDP stalwart into an ardent supporter of the APC government. He now promotes the re-election of the APC in 2027 while still claiming PDP membership,” Gidado stated.

The Bauchi governor’s aide emphasized that Wike’s actions undermine his credibility and showcase his prioritization of ambition over principles.

Criticism of Wike’s Political History

Gidado highlighted Wike’s reliance on opportunities provided by the PDP throughout his political career, accusing him of betraying the party.

“Wike now undermines the very foundation that shaped his political journey,” Gidado remarked.

Friendship and Governance

In response to Wike’s claim that he is not friends with Governor Mohammed, Gidado dismissed the statement as irrelevant.

“Governance revolves around competence, vision, and delivering results, not personal friendships,” he declared.

Gidado concluded by encouraging Wike to embrace “true leadership” and emphasized that Bauchi State’s progress and Nigeria’s democracy remain unaffected by Wike’s friendship or lack thereof.
