Serie A Club Lecce Interested in Leicester’s Laolu Omobolaji

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Serie A side Lecce has expressed interest in signing Leicester City’s talented winger, Laolu Omobolaji, according to BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella. The 17-year-old, who has been a standout player for Leicester’s U18 squad, is currently in talks with the club regarding a contract renewal.

Omobolaji’s impressive performances, including five goals and one assist in 11 appearances across the Premier League 2 and the FA Youth Cup, have drawn attention from several European clubs, with Lecce keen on securing his services.

The young winger is known for his versatility, dribbling skills, and clinical finishing, making him an exciting prospect for future senior football. Eligible to represent both Nigeria and England due to his dual nationality, Omobolaji’s profile continues to rise in the transfer market.

Having joined Leicester in February 2024, Omobolaji quickly became an integral part of the youth setup. While Leicester looks to extend his contract, Lecce is positioning itself as a promising alternative, offering the opportunity for faster first-team football in Italy’s top league.

As the January transfer window approaches, Omobolaji is faced with a key decision: stay at Leicester for continued development or move to Lecce for a potential leap to senior football in Serie A.
