The Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) Alumni Association has enhanced healthcare services on campus with a donation of medical consumables worth over N3.2 million to the university’s medical centre.
Presenting the items on Tuesday, the Alumni President, Barrister Nuhu John Egya, said the donation reflects the association’s renewed commitment to supporting its alma mater and promoting the wellbeing of students and staff.
“The donation includes essential medical consumables for the daily operations of the centre — gloves of various kinds, syringes, HIV/AIDS testing kits, plasters, spirits, and assorted drugs, among others,” Egya explained.
He noted that the gesture marks the first phase of a broader initiative to strengthen healthcare and welfare services within the university community.
“This is just the beginning. We are building a sustainable partnership with the university to ensure a better living and learning environment for all,” he added, while calling for continued collaboration and support from the institution’s management.
Receiving the items, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, commended the Alumni Association for its thoughtful intervention, describing it as “a remarkable example of giving back and sustaining institutional pride.”
“The new Alumni leadership has truly redefined the essence of their association. We are proud of this partnership and assure you that the items will be judiciously used for the benefit of our community,” Prof. Liman stated.
She encouraged the association to develop a digital membership database to effectively harness members’ expertise and resources for the university’s advancement. Prof. Liman also urged the completion of the Alumni Secretariat project, noting that it would provide a suitable base for the association’s activities.
Observers have described the donation as a significant step that underscores the Alumni’s growing role in advancing NSUK’s development agenda, particularly in health and welfare.
Barr. Egya, who assumed office on June 4, 2025, had pledged to reposition the association and rekindle members’ commitment to the university’s progress— a promise now being fulfilled through initiatives such as the healthcare donation.
