Member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, representing Obokun and Oriade Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wole Oke has been accused of illegally having firearms and employing cultists to foment trouble in the area before the general election.

An All Progressives Congress, APC’s candidate for Obokun /Oriade Federal Constituency, Dr Siji Olamiju made this known on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the state’s NUJ Press Center, on how his campaign team was attacked and molested by the people believed to be political thugs on Tuesday at Ibokun and Alase-Ijesa.

According to Olamiju, Oke, who is contesting with him from the same constituency, he said he masterminded an attack on his members as well as campaign vehicles at Alase-Ijesa which led to serious injury sustained by two persons by dangerous cultists he recruited from different campuses.

Olamiju, who was flanked by some Chieftains of the party from the constituency also accused the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Ibokun, who was popularly addressed by the people as Alhaji Taofeek of complicity in the fracas.

The APC House of Representatives Candidate, further alleged that Hon Wole Oke, alongside his cohorts ten days ago, publicly celebrated delivery of ammunition for that purpose in his home town, Esa-Oke.

” We are about to approach the palace of the Alase of Alase-Ijesa when the news reach us that some of our supporters were under attack, we quickly went back to ascertain the degree of injury and attend to the victims.

“As we got to the scene, we discovered that two of our supporters have been stabbed by broken bottles and seriously injured, and because we are law abiding people and lover of peace, we directed the victims to go and make formal complain at a police station located in Ibokun.

“We were later called to be informed that instead of the DPO to allow those victims to make entry, they were surprisingly locked them up for no reason.

“We went back there and demanded for explanation which he declined, even after I contacted the Commissioner of Police in the state and he gave directive for the people to be released, the PPO flagrantly flouted the order”, Olamiju lamented.

The Pharmacist turn politician, further called for high powered police investigative team to unravel the connivance between the police and a member of the lower chamber to ascertain the level of complicity and avert further break down of law and order before, during and after coming general election.

When contacted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Fimihan Adeoye , he said investigation has commenced on the matter.

The CP assured that whoever is involved in the fracas would be made to face the full wrath of law immediately.

Similarly, efforts by our Correspondent to speak with Hon. Wole Oke for his comment on the report proved abortive as his phone number was not available as at the time of filling this report.
