Borno State Police Command has massively deployed it’s personnel to provide adequate security before, during and after the Christmas celebrations across the length and breadth of the state.
This was contained in a statement, Tuesday, issued by the State Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP. Sani Shatambaya, indicated that, the directive is to ensure the safety of citizens in the state and success of all activities lined up to mark the Christmas celebration.
The command has resolve to intensify patrols to create an enabling environment for a peaceful Christmas and New year celebration devoid of criminal activities by raiding criminal hideouts and black spots
It explained that motorists and tricycles i.e Keke Napep operators (riders) have been warned to adhere to all traffic rules and regulations, and eschew all forms of recklessness including drug abuse and drunkenness while behind the wheels.
It could be recalled that curfew is still in force, as such vehicular movements during curfew hours is prohibited while assuring worshippers of the safety of their lives and property,.
The Commissioner of Police Abdu Umar, used the opportunity to advise parents and guardians to take proper care of their children or wards and that the law banning the sales and use of knock-outs/ fireworks is still in force.
According to the statement, the command will not take it lightly with any one involved in act(s) capable of creating panic or threatening the relative peace and security now being enjoyed in the state, as arrested offenders will be made to face the full weight of the law.
While wishing all and sundry a happy Christmas Celebration and a Prosperous New Year, the CP urged the general public to be law abiding and security conscious and to continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminalities at all times and to report promptly any strange or suspicious person(s),movements and or objects to the nearest Police officer/Station or other security services.
The CP also assured the good people of the State of the command’s readiness to perform its statutory responsibility of protecting lives and property of all citizens
and warned the personnel deployed for this critical assignment to be civil but firm in the discharge of their duties.
