“Strategic Leadership At Its Best”: GMI Hails Tinubu’s Diplomatic Gains, Urges Final Push Against Banditry

The Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative (GMI), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a remarkable diplomatic turnaround that has restored Nigeria’s dignity and standing on the global stage, particularly in its relations with the United States.

The group said that within just three months, President Tinubu’s administration has repositioned Nigeria from a country once portrayed as diplomatically isolated to a respected and high-priority partner of the United States.

In a statement by its National Coordinator, Samaila Musa, the GMI described the development as “strategic leadership at its best,” noting that recent engagements between Nigeria and the United States underscore the effectiveness of the President’s foreign policy approach.

“What we have seen since November 2025 is a masterclass in strategic leadership. From the high-level visits involving NSA Nuhu Ribadu and the US Congress in December, to the joint counter-terrorism operations pact, this administration has shown it doesn’t just talk, it acts.

“The fact that President Trump yesterday described our First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a “Very Respected Person,” and expressed he was ‘honoured’ to have her at the Washington Breakfast, proves the coast is now clear for a historic White House visit.

“The Final Push Against Insecurity
While celebrating these diplomatic wins, the Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative acknowledges the complex security reality at home. Despite the successes of the “Renewed Hope” agenda, bandits and terrorists are currently attempting to regroup and launch fresh waves of violence against our communities.

“We believe the end of banditry in Nigeria is finally within sight. But we must not take our foot off the gas. Even as these criminals try to reorganize, we are calling on the Federal Government to double its efforts.”

The GMI reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies, pledging to remain vigilant at the grassroots level.

He added, “We urge the President to deepen this newfound collaboration with the United States and other international allies. We must leverage every bit of intelligence, technology, and military support from these partnerships until every single bandit and terrorist is totally wiped out from Nigerian soil.

“The GMI stands firmly behind the President and the security agencies, remains vigilant at the grassroots level, and calls on all Nigerians to remain patriotic as we move toward a safer, more prosperous nation.”
