Polio Round 2: Sokoto, Unicef Officials Speak

The Commissioner of Health, alongside officials from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), addressed the public about the ongoing Polio Outbreak Response (OBR) Round 2 Campaign. This initiative aims to immunize children under the age of 10 against poliovirus.

The campaign objective was to achieve at least 90% vaccination coverage in each community to stop poliovirus circulation.

Children under 10 years old would be vaccinated with Novel Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2 (nOPV2).

During the media dialogue with journalists, OAPs and Influences, it was discussed that Polio vaccination is crucial in preventing the spread of poliovirus and protecting children from this debilitating disease.

In areas with limited access, innovative strategies and humanitarian pauses can help improve vaccination coverage.

It was also discovered that engaging with local communities and involving them in the vaccination process is vital for success.

The Commissioner of Health, UNICEF officials “We urge all parents and caregivers to ensure their children receive the polio vaccine during this campaign.”

– “Together, we can bring an end to polio and ensure a healthier future for our children”.

The media dialogue with journalists, OAPs, and influencers for the Polio OBR Round 2 Campaign likely focused on raising awareness about the importance of polio vaccination and the campaign’s objectives.

The dialogue aimed to mobilize support, address concerns, and encourage participation in the Polio OBR Round 2 Campaign.
